Make your own custom fish tank backdrop.

Make your very own fish tank backdrop!

Why go out and buy an expensive and boring backdrop for your fish tank when you could create your very own unique one at home! Just measure out a sheet of paper of your choice to fit the back glass of your tank and then draw or paint your very own background. You can draw fish, sea creatures, coral, scuba divers, boats, submarines, and even people swimming. For those little SpongeBob lovers out there, you could even draw bikini bottom! If a stick figure is about the best type of person you can draw, no worries! You can cut out magazine clippings or even print images out online and cut and paste them to your paper back drop. Kids or no kids, it fun too look at and I guarantee you wont find another one like it!

A fun way to teach your child their colors.

Fishing for colors!

What you will Need:
  • Colored construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Small paper clips
  • A ruler or a shish kabob stick
  • String
  • A small magnet (a fridge magnet you can cut works great)
  • Tape
  • Twist tie (optional)
Cut out all different colored fish about 3 inches long. Then tape a small paper clip towards the end of the fishes mouth. Tie a piece of string to the end of the ruler or shish kabob stick (cut the sharp end of the stick off first) and tape or tie (depending of the shape of the magnet) the other end of the string to your magnet. You could also bend one end of a twist tie around your magnet and make a loop with the other end and tie your fishing pole string to the loop.

Lay your fish all over the floor and ask your child to catch certain colored fish. Or if your child is just starting out learning his/her colors, you can have your child catch the fish and teach them the color of each fish they catch.
This is also fun if you give them a bucket of bowl to put their catch in! :)

Reuse your kids old, stained and discolored T's!

What you will need:
  • An old T shirt
  • Glow in the dark fabric paint
  • Paint brush (also fun as a finger painting project!)
Let your kids use the glow in the dark fabric paint to paint whatever their wonderious minds can dream up on those old T's. Let them dry, then stick them under a light to let them "charge" for about 5 minutes. Put those cool new T's on your chitlins, turn off the lights and let'em shine!

This is also a lot of fun with old shoes, pants and even bedding for a fun glow at bed time :)

What to do with all that wonderful art and school work your child brings home!

You'll never have to throw away another piece
  of their hard work again!

We love them so much. We truly wish we could keep every little piece of art work and school work they bring home! Unless you have a room in your house dedicated to store all your children's work,  this is impossible. You just end up sifting through all of it trying to decided which to keep and which to throw away. I have one word for you......SCANNER! Take all the precious work they are so proud of and scan it! It's free, easy, saves you space and you will be able to keep it forever.

One day I went through a box of "treasures" (art/school work) I had been saving of my sons to make room for more. I threw at least half the box away in the trash and my son found it. He was so hurt and upset that I would throw away his hard work. This is when I decided to start scanning it all.

Things to do with it once it's uploaded

  • Upload it to a web-based photo sharing and photo printing service (I personally use snapfish) and print out pictures of the work to keep in his/her very own scrap book or photo flip book.
  • Upload it to snapfish and make a photo book. They will love having their very own book displaying all their hard work. You can add titles, dates and comments to each page.
  • Keep it all organized in folders on your computer categorized  by year, date, theme, or special occasion (Christmas, Mothers day, Easter)
You won't have to part with any of the memories and he/she will always be able to go back and see and the awesome stuff they've done!
